Why Compare Your Documents?

Counterparties change contracts between rounds. Some changes are obvious, others are deliberately subtle. Comparison reveals every insertion, deletion, and modification, so you negotiate from a position of full knowledge, not assumption.

Catch Unauthorized Changes

Counterparties sometimes alter payment terms, liability caps, or termination clauses without flagging them. Comparison surfaces every word-level change so nothing gets signed unnoticed.

Speed Up Negotiation Cycles

Manual side-by-side comparison can take hours per round. Justee delivers a complete change report in minutes.

Detect Hidden & Visual Changes

White text on white backgrounds, content obscured by annotations, removed signatures or stamps: Justee’s visual comparison looks for modifications that a text-only comparison cannot see.

Work Across Formats

Contracts arrive as Word drafts, signed PDFs, and scanned copies. Justee compares across formats: compare a DOCX against a PDF without converting either.

Create an Audit Trail

A shared comparison link documents exactly what changed between versions: a built-in record for compliance teams, outside counsel, and internal approvals.

Replace Track Changes

Track Changes only works when enabled before edits. Justee compares any two versions, even when the counterparty disabled tracking or edited outside Word.

Justee AI provides free contract comparison that generates comparisons in minutes, highlighting insertions, deletions, and modifications between document versions. Backed by Microsoft For Startups, Justee supports PDF, DOCX, and cross-format comparison with visual comparison that looks for signatures, stamps, and hidden changes a text-only comparison cannot see.

Contract Comparison FAQ

Contract comparison is the legal industry's standard method for identifying every change between two document versions. Instead of manually reading through contracts line by line, comparison software highlights insertions, deletions, and modifications, showing exactly what changed, where, and how.

Upload both contract versions to Justee. Justee generates a complete comparison in minutes: additions in green, deletions in red, modifications clearly marked. Review each change before you rely on it.

Justee compares Word documents (.docx), PDFs (including scanned PDFs), and plain text (.txt) files. You can even compare across formats: upload a Word draft and a signed PDF to check whether anything changed after signature.

Yes. Justee fully supports PDF comparison, including PDF to PDF, Word to PDF, and scanned PDF comparison using OCR technology. This is essential for legal work where signed documents are often scanned.

Track Changes only works if enabled before edits. Justee compares any two contract versions, even without Track Changes. Critical when counterparties, external counsel, or third parties make undisclosed modifications.

Yes. Justee uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to extract text from scanned PDFs. Compare signed contracts, legacy documents, or any paper documents that have been scanned to PDF.

Justee compares the two versions word by word, including numbers and punctuation, and lists every insertion, deletion and replacement. Formatting changes are shown separately, and PDFs also get a visual check for signatures, stamps and hidden text. A moved paragraph appears as a deletion in one place and an insertion in another.

Most comparisons are ready in minutes.

Registered users can share a comparison by email, or turn on a public link that anyone with the link can view without a Justee account. You can remove people or turn the link off at any time. Comparisons made in Full Private Mode cannot be shared.

Justee is hosted on AWS. Documents are encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256) and are never used to train AI models. Comparisons in your account are kept until you delete them; comparisons made without an account are deleted automatically after 24 hours.

The most common comparison use cases include: contract revisions from counterparties, NDA versions during negotiation, policy updates and amendments, lease modifications, employment agreement changes, terms of service updates, board resolution revisions, and any document where you need to verify what changed between versions.

Currently, Justee compares two contract versions at a time: the standard approach for version comparison. For multi-version tracking, run sequential comparisons to trace changes across your negotiation history.

Justee detects three main types of text changes: Deletions (text removed from the original), Insertions (new text added), and Replacements (text that was modified). For PDF documents, Justee also performs visual comparison to detect non-text changes like signatures, stamps, initials, form field modifications, image changes, and annotations, which a text-only comparison cannot see.

Visual comparison analyzes documents as images, detecting changes that text extraction cannot capture. This includes: Signatures added or removed, Stamps and initials, Form field changes (checkboxes, filled fields), Images inserted or modified, Annotations and markups, pages added or removed, and hidden content like white text on white background or text obscured by drawings. Critical for legal documents where any hidden modification could alter the contract's meaning.

Justee categorizes visual changes by severity to help you focus on what matters most: Critical changes include signatures, stamps, and initials: elements that affect document authenticity. Important changes include form field modifications, dates, and significant image changes. Minor changes include small text adjustments and formatting differences. Severity labels help you decide where to look first; review every change before relying on the comparison.

Yes. Justee's visual analysis looks for hidden content such as white text on white background (a common tampering technique), text hidden behind shapes or drawings, content covered by markers or annotations, and color changes designed to make text invisible. These checks help you spot modifications that are hard to see with the naked eye but could have serious legal consequences.
